Krugman understands economics but not politics

I respect Paul Krugman's knowledge and I agree with him on many things.  But his "Despair" over the Obama administration's Bank Assets plan shows his lack of understanding of political reality.  Krugman and others believe that Nationalization is the only answer.  They have cited several Republicans (Greenspan et al.) who support such a move.  But as soon as Obama seized the banks to take "the commanding heights of the economy" he would step into the very trap that his enemies have set for him.  Obama would then be stuck managing several dead banks, his agenda would become mired in the mess, they would denounce him as a socialist and the cheering section on cable TV would begin the chant for the fresh answer: The Palin Administration. Obama has cleverly found a public/private solution that is market friendly and politically moderate.  This plan will work and 2010 will see an economic recovery and a victory for Obama.
